A good yarn
A cluster of creamy-
white yarn balls fills
the center of a balsam
wreath for a study in
contrasts— light and
dark, soft and bristly.
Sprigs of incense
cedar are tucked in
at the top for interest
and scent. Wrapping
the balls in yarns
of different thick-
nesses and shades
of white adds to the
homespun look.
To make yarn balls,
above,
pin the end of
the yarn to a foam ball.
Wrap yarn around the
ball until the surface
is covered. Pin the
loose end of the yarn
to the ball and leave a
20-inch tail. Gather the
balls into a cluster, tie
the tails into a knot,
then tie the tails
around the wreath.
Finally, wrap the top
with more yarn to
make a neat, wide
band,
left.
